The Zur Balance Method was developed by Dr. Oz Zur through decades of clinical work with people experiencing dizziness, vestibular dysfunction and balance disorders.
The approach combines clinical assessment with individualized rehabilitation based on the patient’s symptoms, functional abilities and the specific systems contributing to balance control.
Balance depends on the interaction between several systems, particularly:
The brain continuously integrates information from these systems to maintain posture, stabilize vision and support movement.
The Zur Balance Method focuses on identifying where difficulties occur and adapting rehabilitation to the individual’s specific clinical profile.
Rather than applying the same exercise program to every patient, the Zur Balance Method is adapted according to the individual’s assessment findings, symptoms and functional goals.
Exercises may be selected to challenge postural control, gaze stability, sensory integration, coordination, head movement, walking and functional balance. The level of difficulty is adjusted according to the individual’s abilities and progress.
Identify the systems and situations contributing to the balance difficulty.
Understand the patient’s symptoms, functional abilities and clinical findings.
Select exercises according to the individual’s needs.
Adjust the program as abilities and functional performance change.
The Zur Balance Approach developed from Dr. Oz Zur’s clinical work in vestibular rehabilitation, postural control and balance assessment.
In a 2020 professional review, Dr. Zur described the approach as incorporating visual and somatosensory systems alongside vestibular rehabilitation, with an emphasis on individualized assessment, patient needs and return to daily function.
The Zur Balance approach has also evolved to incorporate digital tools designed to support assessment, exercise selection and home rehabilitation.
Digital rehabilitation can help extend the clinical process beyond the clinic and support personalized practice and follow-up.
Dr. Zur has also described digital vestibular rehabilitation and the BBalance system as part of the development of the approach.
Dr. Oz Zur provides lectures, workshops and professional training on vestibular rehabilitation, balance assessment, postural control and the Zur Balance Method.
His teaching combines clinical experience, research and practical tools for healthcare professionals working with dizziness and balance disorders.
The development of the Zur Balance Method is closely connected to Dr. Zur’s clinical research in balance assessment and postural control.
This work also led to the development of the Zur Balance Scale, which has been evaluated in peer-reviewed research.
